"I don't reach beyond the clay with any preconceived image; the first piece thrown into a thin slab determines the form to come. I try to release the feeling of blossom...leaf...blowing grasses...hatched egg...shell. When I sit before a mound of wet porcelain I feel the same freedom a painter must feel before a blank canvas--there are unlimited possibilities for color, texture and form. My work is thin because translucency allows light to breathe life into a piece and the light is what will eventually touch someone..."
